9/5/2018 update

Free book weekend went good. Gave away 36 more books between book #1 and book #5.

Slowly working on book #14 and 15 at the same time. I hate it when this happens. I still don't have a tablet I can type on to write books when I'm actually inspired so I have two spiral bound notebooks alternating between two stories. I decided to shelve part of 14 and make it into a standalone novel, the other part of 14 will focus on the core of the story I was trying to tell instead of running off with itself.

#13 just needs to be edited. I'm 3-4 books behind in my editing and half the people that've read my books only comment is, "I need an editor." If they only knew how much that would cost me. I have reached out to several publishers and the responses range to being ignored to flat out insulted at the sheer thought of it. You're apparently supposed to do the whole thing yourself, then hire someone who pitches your book or some nonsense, whatever. Wtf is the point of self publishing if you still have to deal with all of the same idiots and bureaucrats that strangle the situation to begin with.

Still amazes me there isn't a place for people who WANT TO READ BOOKS instead of authors competing with other authors for the author audience circle jerk. I also realize my books could be so much more, but since I can't write by sheer thought and I'm being pulled in 100 different ways, and nobody is actually encouraging me, 13, 14, 15 and the edits of 1, 2, 3, and 5. I guess I'll try to revisit them once per year.

Anyway 13 first write up is done I actually love it. I can't wait to do the edits. 14 is going to be hard to write, 15 is practically writing itself. This's happened at least 3 times now. Gotta jet, its late. take care.

Book #13 first draft is done

Hello All, I know it took forever, but I finally got the blog created. The first draft of book #13 is done, finally. I know it took forever. I've had these hiccups in the past. The only other one I remember as significant was #4 but I swear there was a second one I got stuck on for a bit. It was basically the same as this one. I had the first "act" written and knew where it needed to end up, but the entire middle part refused to coagulate in my brain. When it finally did, the darn book wrote itself within a few days and ended up being the longest book I'd written so far. Basically takes place in California during its collapse, which happens a while before the PNW Collapse. A brave studly man fights off cartels to find a distress signal he thinks came from a prior group that he accidentally inspired and now feels responsible for. So anyway, onto some nerd stats for book #13. It's a little over 30,400 words. According to Excel that puts it a little highe...

3.18.2022 news

Hi All. Book 22 is in the rear-view, and working on a very fun compilation, as well as super short stories (<1000 word stories) I call 'coffee stories' until I can find a new place and settle back down. (Replacing the content from the bunker tier on Patreon, with a lot higher, more consistent content. Posted here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/chancepaladin Patreon was taking way too much $, so I started a new site on 'coffee' link below. Putting the 'coffee' stories on there, which are typically under 1000 words and will be exclusive for the year I wrote them in. Then the next year they'll be exclusive to print. They're way less stress for me to write these tiny stories, as they take only about 45 min a piece, instead of days a piece in the case of a short story, or months in the case of a novel. On a personal note, the prospects of getting a new place (Again) are very grim. Not only are houses triple what they were the last time we bought a house, b...

Books renumbered on Amazon

Due to overwhelming feedback, the naming convention on Amazon for my books has been updated. No more roman numerals, except on the book covers. This would take forever to fix because Amazon doesn't have a super simple way of changing a single character on a book title that I can find, even though I made those in their system. It looks like they don't save it anywhere that I can tell. Suffice it to say everywhere else, the book numbers should be updated. I overestimated people's familiarity with roman numerals. Is what it is. Switching everything to numbers. It looks a little more basic, but I guess it sounds like that's what everyone wants. So I'll go with it and see how it does. Please let me know what you think? Amazon should have everything updated by tomorrow, hopefully. Thanks as always. Note 1: Amazon's "series" functionality still doesn't work. I have a note in to them, and I'll see if I can get them to set it up. Note 2: Me upda...
